Romantic meal ideas for your loved one this Valentine’s Day

Cakes decorated with 'Love' and hearts

It goes without saying, Valentine’s Day 2021 is going to be a little different to what it has been in the past. We may not be able to go out and enjoy pub cooked meals with our special someone, but that doesn’t mean that we have to give up on the idea of eating delicious food all together; cooking your own 3 course meal says romance alot more than dinner cooked for you anyway! Even if it goes wrong; it's the thought that counts as they say.

We've put together some of the most romantic (and truly delicious) starter, main and desert ideas that you can cook up for your loved one, this Valentine’s Day.

Cooked prawns in a bowl with a side of Marie Rose SauceFor starters
There's no better way to kick start the perfect evening with a delicious starter; there are so many different dishes that you can russel up so we've picked the best: Prawns, scallops, salads, stuffed vegetables and breads are not only divine to eat, but also quick and easy to make.

The main thing to think about when it comes to starters is that you don’t want it to be too filling; small and light is perfect but obvouisly as tasty as can be to keep your other half wanting to see what you have to offer next.

How about Lemon Mayonnaise drizzled over your salad? Or a majestic Marie Rose Sauce on the side of those prawns?! Chipotle Mayonnaise compliments any bread dish too.

Medium rare steak on wooden chopping boardOn to mains
Onto mains - the biggest feature of the evening - the dish that you've kept them waiting for all day. This is the part where you really have to pull out all the stops to impress them (providing you haven't scared them off with the prawn starter!).

Our number one romantic meal has got to be a succulent steak. A popular choice for many romantic meals, not only is it incredibly tasty, but it can be cooked to your exact liking. Rare, medium, medium rare, well done.. that's up to you to find out how your favourite person likes theirs; we can't tell you that unfortunately!!

Not fancying steak? You could always go for a fish based dish. Salmon is always a winner and one of our go to meals on a cosy evening. A few new potatoes and some freshly cut asparagus, with a dollop of mayonnaise on the side. Beautiful.

Pasta is another favourite. How about a pesto based pasta dish? Can't go wrong. Although, it is worth remembering that this can be messy, so don’t wear your best clothes for this - maybe put them on after you've prepared it.

We have a wide range of other delicious main meal ideas over on our Recipes page, so make sure you check that out.

Tiramisu on a plateOh, go on then..
Whilst we may not be able to offer you the ideal dressing for your dessert, we definitely think that these should still be on the menu to finish off the evening perfectly. Desserts come in a wide range of types. Chocolatey, rich, gooey, sweet, cold and warm. Think about how you want to finish off your 3 course menu and make sure that you end it on a high note!

A few suggestions - how about a tiramisu, warm chocolate brownie fresh from the oven with a side of ice cream or a heavenly eton mess.

We can almost taste them now just writing about them.

Whatever it is that you decide to cook on February 14th, make sure that you fill it with love. That way, your Valentine is going to know that you really care and that you have spent time cooking a meal to show them just how important they are to youheartkiss.
